Iacchetti Matteo Felice
Matteo Iacchetti has been an Associate Professor of electrical machines and drives at the Department of Energy since 2021. He received the 5y MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2001 and 2008 respectively. From 2009 to 2014 he was a Post-Doc Research Fellow at Politecnico di Milano. In 2014 he joined the University of Manchester (UK) where he has been a Senior Lecturer, full time till 2021 and currently part-time. Matteo’s research focusses on modelling, design and control of electrical machines and drives for renewable energy, traction and electric propulsion applications. Matteo has been an investigator on various research projects in the areas of energy harvesting, electrical machines and drives for renewable energy and traction applications, and disrupting electric drive concepts for aircraft electric propulsion, including cryogenically-cooled hyperconducting and superconducting motors (e.g. H2GEAR, HyFive, H2Flight projects). He has also been in charge of research and consultancy contracts with industry in the aforementioned topics. He is a co-inventor of three patents on cryogenically-cooled electric motors for propulsion and has published more than one hundred research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences in the area of electric motors and drives.
