Matarrese Roberto
Roberto Matarrese, born in 1977, is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and Safety and Prevention Engineering in the Process Industry, at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He graduated in Industrial Chemistry (Evaluation: 110/110) in 2004 at University of Milan and completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry in 2008 at Politecnico di Milano. Roberto’s academic journey has been enriched by performing parts of his Phd studies at the Competence Centre for Catalysis (KCK), Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden (2007-2008). His scientific activity can be framed in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and in particular catalytic processes of industrial interest, especially related to emission control (e.g. NOx removal both for mobile and stationary applications; simultaneous removal of NOx and soot, particulate matter catalytic combustion) and sustainable production of chemicals and energy (e.g. photoelectrochemical H2 production and organics degradation; CO2 capture and methanation). He carries out his research activity by analyzing the catalytic processes dealing both with the catalyst design and synthesis and with the interplay between the catalytic material and reactions and reaction mechanisms at the catalyst surface. Particularly, in-situ and operando FT-IR spectroscopy is used to follow reactions at surfaces and analyse reaction pathways.
