Giacobbo Francesca Celsa
Francesca Celsa Giacobbo, since 2022 is Associate Professor of Nuclear Reactor Physics at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. She graduated with 110/110 in Environmental Physics at the Università degli Studi di Milano in 1996. In 1996-98 she conducted professional activity in the field of oil and gas processing and in 2001 completed her Ph.D. in Science and Technology in Nuclear Plants at the Politecnico di Milano. After 2 years of post-doc fellowship, in 2003 she won a permanent position as Assistant Professor in Nuclear Reactor Physics at the Nuclear Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Milano. Since 2003 she is lecturer of the courses ‘Fission Reactor Physics II’ and ‘Radioactive contaminants transport’ of the Master Degree in Nuclear Engineering. Since 2004 Member of the Teaching Board of the PhD course ‘Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology’ and since 2006 Scientific Responsible of the Laboratory ‘Contaminants Migration and Nuclear Safeguards’ of the Energy Department at the Politecnico di Milano. Her research activity is focused on modeling and experimental study of dispersion of contaminants in natural and artificial porous media and in the air, with reference to safety problems in the nuclear field. Evaluation of the containment capacity of matrices for the decontamination of water, for the confinement of toxic nuclides and fission products, and study of adsorption and leaching processes at the laboratory scale. Modeling studies regarding neutron transport and optimization of fuel burning.
